University Lofts

This eight-story building located at 1627 Washington Avenue was renovated into the 'University Lofts' at a cost of $5.3 million and now provides living and working space for artists and has been marketed particularly to School of Art alumni. Spacious one bedroom lofts are part of the affordable housing program. The two bedroom lofts have several huge floor plans with rents starting at $1100 a month. Restaurant and art gallery are on the first floor. The gallery was dedicated January 25, 2000, as the Des Lee Gallery, in honor of alumnus E. Desmond Lee.
