The Grace Lofts

1324 Washington Avenue Lesan-Gould Co Building : 1925

In 1998, Developers Dennis Norman and Peter Rothschild purchased the eight-story building at 1324 Washington Avenue for $265,000 from downtown developer Larry Deutsch, who had applied for a demolition permit. Norman and Rothschild had planned to invest close to $1.5 million to convert it to lofts.

The building is now owned by the McGowan Brothers Development; a family owned development company that has been active in the Washington Avenue loft district. The building has taken the name of Grace Lofts, and is to be a $6 million project calling for 24 rental units ranging in rent between $1100 to $1700 per month.

The building is notable for its glazed brick facade with bas-relief concrete obelisks loft apartments are planned on the upper floors, commercial space on the ground floor and tenant parking in the basement.
