The Meridian
1136 Washington Avenue
A.D. Brown Building : 1898
The A.D. Brown Building, built in 1898, served as the headquarters of the Hamilton-Brown Shoe Company.
This 9-story building, on the corner of Washington Avenue and Tucker Boulevard, in the heart of the
Washington Avenue Loft District, is about to make a comeback.
A group of Los Angeles developers plans to redevelop the building into nearly 100 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom
loft-style condominiums. Work is expected to start in early 2005.
The project is expected to include new retail on the ground floor as well as on-site parking.
