Historic Renovation, Inc. has put together a plan of almost $46 million in order to rehabilitate the building mostly into one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, with retail space at street level. In 1984, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The seven-story Merchandise Mart Apartments is scheduled to open in December 2002 and will include street level retail space and a garage. HRI's St. Louis office is responsible for the completion and opening of the Lennox Renaissance Suites the Renaissance Grand Hotel in 2002.
